Our distinguished guest speaker for this event is none other than Vancouver-born baritone, Jason Cook. Known for his compelling portrayal of Marco in Gianni Schicchi, Jason has graced stages across Canada, Europe, China, and Australia. Following his recent appearance in the world premiere of East Van Opera’s “Beauty’s Beast,” Schmopera praised him as a “vocal force of nature” that is truly breathtaking.
Jason Cook will not only share insights into his experiences but will also treat the audience to a mesmerizing performance. As a special interactive segment, attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage in simple voice exercises guided by Jason himself, delving into the fundamentals of the art.
Recent and upcoming credits of Jason include Sharpless in “Madama Butterfly” and Figaro in “Il barbiere di Siviglia” (Burnaby Lyric Opera), Marcello in “La bohème” (Opera Nanaimo), Count Almaviva in “Le nozze di Figaro” (Vancouver Island Opera), and Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf in “Into the Woods” (Fighting Chance Productions).
Don’t miss this extraordinary event that promises an evening filled with the magic of music. The lecture will take place at Alumni Theater, TRU Clock Tower. Please RSVP through the following link to help us manage attendees.
